The first patient has been treated with radiation oncology firm Accuray's new TomoHDA system for image-guided intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT).
The Centre Oscar Lambret in Lille, France, treated a breast cancer patient with the 3D image-guided radiation therapy system, which builds on the technologies used by TomoTherapy's Hi-Art and TomoHD systems, according to Accuray.
TomoHDA features Accuray's VoLo and TomoEdge dynamic jaws technology, which allows for better dose management and reduces treatment time by approximately half for many patients, Accuray said.
