Swedish oncology firm Elekta of Stockholm has introduced two new products to treat lung tumors and enable doctors to visually confirm a tumor's position during the breathing cycle.
The new technology helps treat lesions with a continuous radiation beam, increasing therapy accuracy while using less imaging radiation during treatment delivery.
XVI Symmetry and XVI Intuity are featured in version 4.5 of Elekta's x-ray volume imaging (XVI) software for image-guided radiation therapy. XVI 4.5 recently received 510(k) clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the CE Mark in Europe.
