Landauer makes two acquisitions

Radiation monitoring firm Landauer of Glenwood, IL, has acquired two companies as part of the vendor's push into the medical physics market.

Landauer on November 9 bought Global Physics Solutions (GPS) for $22 million in cash from DW Healthcare Partners, a healthcare equity firm. GPS provides medical physics services to hospitals and radiation therapy centers, including clinical physics support, equipment commissioning, accreditation support, imaging equipment testing, and educational services.

Landauer said it pursued the deal due to its interest in expanding beyond its core occupational health monitoring business and into the medical physics services sector. GPS has many of the same customers as Landauer, has regulatory support, and has a recurring revenue model with a high return, the company said.

In the other deal, Landauer bought Swedish radon measurement services firm Gammadata Mätteknik (GDM) on November 2. GDM provides measurement services in the Scandinavian region and throughout Europe, and the deal will leverage Landauer's recent acquisition of the Studsvik dosimetry service in Sweden, now called Landauer Persondosimetri.
