CIVCO parent buys Medtec

The parent company of ultrasound device developer CIVCO Medical Instruments of Kalona, IA, has acquired radiation oncology device firm Medtec of Orange City, IA.

In announcing the acquisition, Roper Industries touted the growth opportunities and synergies created through the combined product lines of Medtec and CIVCO. Roper bought CIVCO in June 2005.

Medtec's products include patient positioning and immobilization products, tumor targeting software and support devices, and quality assurance products for radiation therapy. CIVCO and Medtec together are expected to generate about $85 million in revenues in 2006.
