Imagion Biosystems has renewed and extended its collaboration agreement with Siemens Healthineers to support a phase II trial of its MagSense MRI contrast agent in patients with HER2-positive breast cancer.
Under the agreement, Siemens will provide in-kind expertise and technical support to clinical sites, working with Imagion’s study investigators to optimize MRI protocols, the vendor said. The collaboration will also incorporate quantitative imaging techniques developed through Imagion's research partnership with Wayne State University, which the companies expect to improve image quality and reduce imaging time while using lower doses of the agent.
MagSense is an investigational MRI contrast agent that uses targeted magnetic nanoparticles rather than radioactive tracers to help identify HER2-positive breast cancer. The trial will establish optimal dosing and imaging timing and evaluate diagnostic performance, Imagion said.
