NYU to host 'build your own' MRI scanner event

New York University (NYU) Langone Health will host a four-day event for teams to build their very own MRI machines from scratch.

It’s the first time an MRI hackathon event has ever aimed to build scanners at scale, according to officials at NYU. From October 16 to 21, about 60 scientists will gather primarily to show that they can build an MRI scanner at a very low cost and that it’s feasible for others as well.

“The smaller and cheaper these tools become, the more easily they can spread around the world,” the university said.

More information about the event is available here.
