DTI-MRI for mild TBI | Home of the $600 MRI | 5 healthcare trends to watch

Dear AuntMinnie Member,

What can be done to make diffusion-tensor MRI (DTI-MRI) a more clinically useful tool for brain imaging? Researchers believe they have found the key with a new algorithm that may make DTI-MRI studies easier to perform in the clinical setting.

DTI-MRI is a powerful tool for analyzing brain function, in particular the impact of concussion and traumatic brain injury (TBI). But there is great variability in DTI measurements, and it requires a level of data analysis that's not usually performed in the clinical setting.

The researchers believe they may have found a solution with a data processing algorithm that examines disorder in complex biological systems. They applied it to DTI-MRI scans of patients with mild TBI, and found that it could accurately predict both the extent of patient injury and their expected recovery time. To learn more, click here.

Could your imaging facility offer $600 MRI scans? You'd probably find it challenging, but a new chain of MRI centers is basing its business model on that price point. It sounds crazy, but find out how they do it by clicking here, or visit our MRI Community at mri.auntminnie.com.

5 healthcare trends to watch

What are the major trends that will shape healthcare in 2016? Morris Panner, CEO of cloud-based image management software developer DICOM Grid, takes a crack at this question with an article in our Imaging Informatics Community.

Mr. Panner sees five major trends influencing healthcare, ranging from patients seeking access to care from any location at any time to ongoing concerns over cybersecurity.

How will these trends affect your practice? Find out by clicking here, or visit our Imaging Informatics Community at informatics.auntminnie.com.
