Indiana University (IU) Health is establishing a Theranostics Center of Excellence to combine molecular imaging, precision diagnostics, and targeted radionuclide therapy for cancer patients across Indiana.
Supported by a $40 million commitment, including a $20 million philanthropic gift from the Lechleiter and Tobias families matched by IU Health, the center will offer FDA-approved theranostic treatments for prostate and neuroendocrine cancers and access to clinical trials for additional cancer types, the health system said. Jason Allen, MD, PhD, chair of the university’s Department of Radiology and Imaging Sciences, will lead the program.
Long-term plans include expansion to locations in Bloomington, Fort Wayne, Lafayette, and the North Indianapolis metro area, according to an announcement.
