Interventional device developer Boston Scientific is being sued by a Miami-based interventional radiologist for patent infringement related to the company's stent-endograft technology.
Dr. Shaun Samuels filed suit against the Natick, MA, company in U.S. District Court in Marshall, TX, charging patent infringement, trade-secret misappropriation, and unfair competition. The complaint alleges that Boston Scientific's TriVascular Enovus AAA stent-endograft product infringes Samuels' U.S. Patent No. 6,007,575 ("Inflatable Intraluminal Stent And Method For Affixing Same Within The Human Body") and was derived from his trade-secret technology.
Samuels' complaint further alleges that a key consultant and advisor of Boston Scientific/TriVascular was involved in the misappropriation of proprietary information relating to plans for developing Samuels' endovascular technology.
