Proposed U.S. rules increase safety and cost of fluoroscopy systems
New standards for fluoroscopy systems sold in the U.S. will reduce radiation burns to patients while increasing the cost of the machines, say federal regulators. But the new systems will still be cheaper than malpractice claims, which may be rising along with the popularity of interventional procedures, radiation exposure levels, and the number of reported injuries.
