Biospace Med of Paris will introduce its first medical imaging product, EOS, at this year's RSNA show. EOS is an ultralow-dose, full-body simultaneous anteroposterior and lateral image acquisition DR system.
EOS allows direct acquisition in one scan of the whole body of patients as tall as 190 cm, (74 inches), or a reduced area of investigation of a patient in weight-bearing position, with 3D reconstruction of the skeleton. The image is as accurate as that obtained from a CT scan, but requiring a hundred to a thousand times less radiation, according to the company.
EOS is DICOM-compatible. U.S. Food and Drug Administration clearance and U.S. and worldwide availability are expected in early 2007.
