Geoffrey Rubin, MD, has been named chairman of radiology at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, NC.
Rubin previously was at Stanford University in Stanford, CA, where he was a professor of radiology, associate dean for clinical affairs, vice chief of the medical staff, and chief of cardiovascular imaging. He had been at Stanford for 22 years as a resident and fellow, and was on the faculty for 17 years.
Rubin is well-known for his role with the International Symposium on Multidetector-Row CT, an annual meeting originally organized by Stanford but now operated by the International Society for Computed Tomography (ISCT). Rubin's involvement with the MDCT meeting will continue under the auspices of the ISCT.
Rubin replaces Carl Ravin, MD, who was chair of radiology at Duke for 23 years. Ravin is now president of the Private Diagnostic Clinic at Duke.
