Siemens Healthcare of Malvern, PA, will present its new Optimum Contrast software at Stanford University's International Symposium on Multidetector-Row CT in Las Vegas this week.
Optimum Contrast software works with Siemens' recently introduced new dual-source CT system, Somatom Definition, which features two x-ray tubes that simultaneously generate different energies.
The software contains newly developed image optimization algorithms, which analyze 3D data and determine the optimal mix of high and low voltage from the two x-ray tubes for enhanced image voxels to create multicontrast images. As a result, the images of soft tissue and vascular structures that contain contrast medium are more recognizable, according to Siemens.
