New study to assess 64-slice coronary CTA

Toshiba Medical Systems said that patient evaluation has begun in a multicenter clinical study on coronary CT angiography using 64-slice CT technology.

Research participants in the trial, called Coronary Evaluation on 64 (CorE 64) include Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore; Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston; Leiden University Medical Center in the Netherlands; Humboldt University, Campus Charité Mitte in Germany; INCOR Heart Institute of the School of Medicine Hospital, Sao Paulo University in Brazil; and Iwate Medical University in Japan.

Initial results of the study will be released in 2006, according to the Tokyo-based vendor.
