Marconi Medical Systems filled a gap in its product line with the announcement that it has signed a distribution agreement with radiation oncology firm Nomos. Under the terms of the deal, Marconi will distribute worldwide the Sewickley, PA-based firm's intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) products, Monte Carlo surgical planning tools, and ultrasound radiation oncology products.
Technology from Nomos and Cleveland-based Marconi will be blended into an integrated product offering. For Marconi, the deal fills a void created following the ending of its relationship with its previous radiation therapy partner, Varian Medical Systems of Palo Alto, CA. Varian joined forces with GE Medical Systems of Waukesha, WI, in January.
