HIFU Prostate Services, a provider of minimally invasive prostate cancer treatment using high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU), has partnered with two facilities to enable use of Sonablate HIFU for the first time in the U.S.
The Sonablate devices (SonaCare Medical) will be delivered to the San Francisco Surgery Center and First Urology in Louisville, KY. In addition to treating patients, the facilities will offer training to other physicians in the greater surrounding urology community.
HIFU for prostate cancer has been available in other countries for 10 years, the firm said.
