Cardinal scoops up PET radiopharma facilities

Healthcare products firm Cardinal Health has reached an agreement to acquire five PET radiopharmaceutical production facilities, and manage a sixth site.

The Dublin, OH-based Cardinal will acquire facilities formerly owned by Regional Nuclear Pharmaceuticals (RNP) in Newark, NJ; Dallas; Memphis, TN; Birmingham, AL; and Columbus, OH. A management agreement will be put in place at a sixth site in Jackson, MS, which was formerly managed by RNP, the company said.

Through the agreement, Cardinal will gain ownership of five cyclotrons and related lab equipment to produce FDG. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
