GE to acquire filtration products supplier

Multimodality vendor GE Healthcare of Chalfont St. Giles, U.K., has reached an agreement to acquire a global supplier of filtration products and technologies.

Whatman of Maidstone, U.K., provides filters and membranes for laboratory, research, life sciences, and medical technology applications, which GE plans to offer through its Life Sciences business, the company reported.

Under terms of the deal, each Whatman shareholder will receive 270 pence (about $5) in cash for each Whatman share, valuing Whatman at approximately 363 million pounds ($713 million). The transaction is subject to approval by Whatman's shareholders, as well as customary regulatory approvals.
