Del posts Q3 downturn

Del Medical Systems Group posted fiscal 2005 third-quarter sales of $15.4 million, down from $17.4 million in sales during the same period last year.

The company attributed the lower numbers to decreased international shipments due to the strong euro, which caused pricing for international products to be less attractive in noneuro-denominated markets. U.S. shipments were also lower.

The Valhalla, NY-based group posted operating income of $385,000 in the third quarter (end-April 30) of fiscal 2005 as compared with operating income of $1.6 million in the same period last year. The firm did not break out net income figures for the medical systems group.

The firm attributed the operating-income decline to lower overall sales, material costs related to digital products, engineering related to obtaining CE Marking, and selling commissions for international products.
