Korean ultrasound manufacturer Medison received the Erich Saling Diploma 2001 at the Fifth World Congress of Perinatal Medicine held this week in Barcelona, Spain.
The award recognizes Medison's contributions to the field of perinatal ultrasound, especially in 3-D technology, according to Medison. In accepting the award, Medison managing director Lee Sung Mo said the Seoul-based firm will expand its efforts to improve healthcare throughout the world by developing high-quality, low cost ultrasound devices for the perinatology market.
The just-concluded World Congress of Perinatal Health was first held in Japan in 1993. The biannual conference draws more than 5,000 physicians from 60 countries to share research and practical experience in healthcare for pregnant mothers, fetuses and infants, according to organizers.
Earlier this year Medison received a product differentiation engineering award from healthcare consulting firm Frost & Sullivan.
