GE Healthcare is introducing two new ultrasound scanners at this week's annual clinical meeting of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) in Chicago.
Voluson E6 is an entry-level system targeted at obstetric and gynecologic clinical applications, according to the Chalfont St. Giles, U.K.-based vendor. It also includes automation capabilities for imaging the fetal heart, a scan assistant for quality assurance and workflow improvements, and new transducer technology, GE said.
Another new system, Logiq P3, is a compact console ultrasound system for ob/gyn practices. It includes features migrated from other Logiq systems, such as GE's CrossXBeam image enhancement software.
In other ACOG developments, GE will present Breakthrough 2009 software upgrades for its Voluson E8 and Logiq P5 and P6 scanners. Voluson E8 enhancements include a new Dynamic Rendering Engine that provides 3D rendering capability, according to the vendor.
The Logiq P5 and P6 software upgrade includes image optimization algorithms for improved 3D image quality and optimized real-time 4D functionality, GE said. The company has also incorporated new transducers, a new hard drive for increased speed, expanded reporting packages, and an enhanced 17-inch monitor.
