Portable-ultrasound technology developer Terason of Burlington, MA, has launched Impact 2008, a new portable ultrasound scanner.
Impact 2008 uses Terason's Windows 2008 architecture and includes a number of new features and enhancements, according to the company. OmniVision is a new technology that features electronic beam steering for rapidly acquiring several scans from many different viewing angles for more confidence in visualization and diagnosis. It also reduces speckle, shadowing, clutter, and other acoustic artifacts, according to Terason.
Impact 2008 also features new grayscale maps that provide clinicians with improved grayscale imaging, as well as additional choices in image displays. Terason has also optimized its advanced harmonic imaging algorithm for the 5C2 and 4V2 transducers, reducing artifacts and improving contrast resolution.
The new scanner expands Terason's cardiac and vascular measurements and reporting to other general imaging applications, such as phlebology, vascular access, and ob/gyn, the company said.
