Multimodality vendor Philips Medical Systems of Andover, MA, has launched HD11, a new high-end ultrasound scanner. The system is designed to give imaging facilities on a restricted budget access to advanced ultrasound features, according to the company.
HD11 incorporates a digital beamformer with beam-steering capabilities and Philips signal-processing technologies like the vendor's SonoCT compound imaging technique with XRES technology. Philips said it will sharpen the definition of anatomic details, reduced noise and speckle, and improve visibility and contrast resolution of even small structures.
The new system also uses Philips' iSCAN intelligent optimization feature, which enables users to optimize scan parameters with the touch of a button. Another workflow feature lets users have up to five transducers connected to the system at any one time.
Optional features available on the system include stress echo, 4D, panoramic and contrast imaging, and spatio-temporal imaging correlation (STIC), which enables the viewing of fetal heart function in 3D. Clinicians can also customize HD11 for breast, transesophageal, pediatric, vascular, musculoskeletal, and other applications.
HD11 will carry a base list price of under $70,000, with an average price of $100,000 for a system with transducers and specialized clinical packages. It will occupy a price point between the company's midrange EnVisor scanner and the iU22 and iE33 premium ultrasound scanners, both of which were introduced in the past year.
