TomoTherapy revenue falls in 2009

2009 proved to be a challenging year for radiation therapy firm TomoTherapy of Madison, WI.

In its fourth quarter (end-December 31), TomoTherapy turned in revenue of $58 million, down 33% compared with the $86.3 million booked in the fourth quarter of 2008. TomoTherapy had a fourth-quarter net loss of $3.4 million (including restructuring charges of $1.9 million), compared with a net loss of $7.5 million (including restructuring charges of $1.6 million) in the same quarter a year ago.

The firm reported 2009 revenue of $164 million in 2009, down 20% compared with the $204.6 million in 2008. The company posted a net loss of $37.4 million, compared with a net loss of $33.5 million in 2008.

The company said that it expects 2010 revenue will be comparable to 2009.
