FDA clears proton positioning system

Radiopharmaceutical firm Ion Beam Applications (IBA) of Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium, and partner ProCure Treatment Centers of Bloomington, IN, have announced that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has cleared a patient positioning system (PPS) for proton therapy systems marketed by the companies.

PPS was developed by ProCure and IBA in collaboration with Forte Automation Systems of Rockford, IL. The first clinical installation will be at the ProCure Proton Therapy Center in Oklahoma City, scheduled to open this summer.
