GE completes first pediatric dose reduction install

Sanford Children's Hospital is the first children's hospital in the U.S. to install a new software application from GE Healthcare of Chalfont St. Giles, U.K., designed to reduce radiation dose in pediatric CT studies.

The Sioux Falls, SD, facility has installed the company's adaptive statistical iterative reconstruction (ASIR) software. In addition to its use on the hospital's 64-slice CT scanner, the ASIR technology will also be available in Sanford's emergency department.
