Philips files PET/CT suit against Siemens

Philips Healthcare of Andover, MA, has filed a patent infringement lawsuit against Malvern, PA-based Siemens Healthcare in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio.

The suit alleges that Siemens infringed upon Philips' patent for a patient handling system for use in PET/CT scanners. Philips cites Siemens' Biograph PET/CT system, and, in the court documents, states that "other claims may be infringed as well."

The patent (U.S. Patent No. 5,525,905) at issue was issued to Philips in June 1996. Philips does not request a specific monetary amount in damages in its filing.
