UltraSPECT gets U.S. patent

Israeli nuclear medicine developer UltraSPECT has received a U.S. patent, 7,026,623, for its "efficient single-photon emission imaging," according to the Haifa-based vendor.

According to the firm's patent, a shorter scanning time and clinically diagnostic images may be obtained by resolution recovery reconstruction methods such as its wide beam reconstruction (WBR) technology.

The company said it is developing the next generation of products based on the patent, with a goal of further reduction of scan time to less than three minutes.
