GE Healthcare revenues slip in 2009

Even with what parent company General Electric (GE) of Stamford, CT, described as "solid orders growth" in 2009, revenues for GE Healthcare decreased last year and in the fourth quarter (end-December 31).

The Chalfont St. Giles, U.K.-based business tallied revenues of $16 billion in 2009, down 8% compared with revenues of $17.4 billion in 2008. Profit declined to $2.4 billion last year, compared with $2.9 billion in 2008.

Revenues in the fourth quarter dipped slightly to $4.7 billion, down 2% compared with $4.8 billion in the fourth quarter of 2008. Profit remained steady at $900 million, compared with $900 million in the same quarter a year ago.

GE also reported that the healthcare division entered 2010 with a higher order backlog than last year.
