Healthcare research agency ECRI has enhanced its Health Devices International Sourcebase, an Internet database that lists medical product manufacturers, suppliers, and their products.
The enhancements include expanded search options to make it easier for users to retrieve information. In addition, thousands of definitions of medical device product categories have been added, according to the Plymouth Meeting, PA-based firm.
The enhanced Sourcebase now also includes profiles for each of the product categories. Profiles include the device's typical price range, cross-references to related terms, a list of commonly used names for the device, and the specialty categories under which the device is classified, according to ECRI. Profiles also include a search option to identify suppliers.
