Vital Images posts flat Q1 revenues

Advanced visualization firm Vital Images of Minnetonka, MN, reported revenues for its first quarter of 2010 (end-March 31) that were flat compared to revenues for the same period a year ago.

For the quarter, Vital Images reported sales of $14.8 million, compared with $14.8 million in the first quarter of 2009. The company posted a net loss of $1.1 million, compared with a net loss of $251,000 in the corresponding quarter the year before.

The company said that the most recent quarter's net loss was affected by a one-time compensation charge of $692,000 related to a tender offer for employee stock options that closed in the first quarter. Otherwise, the firm said that it was pleased with the results, given the environment for hospital capital spending.
