Vital Images employs new Intel server platform

Advanced visualization firm Vital Images is applying its Vitrea fX software in combination with Intel's latest Xeon 5500 processor series.

Using Vital Images' volumetric compression technology with the Intel platform has led to dramatic improvements in processing speed, according to the Minnetonka, MN-based vendor. For example, processing of a 4D brain perfusion with Vitrea fX is 34% faster using the Xeon 5500 processor series than on an identically clocked Xeon 5482 processor series, the company said.

This speed improvement provides cost savings and increased efficiency by decreasing the time to read studies, Vital Images said.
