Positron

PET developer Positron will be showcasing its mPower whole-body PET scanner optimized for cardiology, oncology, and neurology at the 2004 RSNA meeting. The device has the capability for dynamic and gated cardiac imaging with rubidium-82, according to the Houston-based firm.

The mPower PET system features uniform 3D spatial resolution with staggered detectors to eliminate gaps between slices, providing accurate location and high resolution. This minimizes missing counts and inaccurate position information, Positron said.

The scanner has a patient table length of 7 feet, which can support up to 350 lb, and has an axial field of view of 16.6 cm. It is currently available worldwide and is priced at $1.5 million, the company said.
