Lumisys debuts budget Lumiscan 40 digitizer

Film digitizer developer Lumisys has introduced Lumiscan 40, a laser film digitizer with 2K resolution and an optical density of 3.2. With a list price of $18,900, the Sunnyvale, CA-based vendor believes Lumiscan 40 offers laser-quality images at a price usually reserved for scanners based on charge-coupled-device (CCD) technology. Lumiscan 40 replaces Lumiscan 20, the firm’s only CCD-based digitizer.

Lumiscan 40 will be provided in the same desktop configuration as other Lumiscan digitizers, and will utilize the same software, hardware, and optional film-handling solutions. Shipments will begin in September to the company's channel partners, according to Lumisys.
