Ultrasound educator Karen Nussbaumer is creating the Academy of Diagnostic and Osteopathic Medicine (ADOM), a new company that aims to deliver ultrasound education and diagnostics globally on a virtual platform.
Nussbaumer previously founded the Gulf Coast Institute of Vascular Ultrasound in 1999, as well as the Cure Center for Ultrasound Research and Education.
With the ADOM Home Labs platform, patients can even perform their own ultrasounds at home with help from teleeducation and telemedicine, according to a press release. Patients can choose to make a doctor's appointment, go to an emergency room, or perform an immediate ultrasound at home, the company said.
Nussbaumer also plans to offer same-day diagnostics and treatment at her emerging company, Currents Medical, the release stated.
