The Scout MD localization system supports implantation of up to four unique reflector configurations to help patient care in breast cancer and other soft tissue cancers, the company said.

When implanted within abnormal breast or other soft tissue, the reflectors allow surgeons to locate tumors in multiple dimensions for more precise excision. Merit said this minimizes trauma to healthy tissue and helps reduce the likelihood of reexcision and the emotional and physical pain associated with a second surgery.
