NorthStar installs accelerator at its new Wisc. facility

March 8, 2023 -- NorthStar Medical Radioisotopes has installed an electron beam accelerator for the commercial production of Actinium-225 (Ac-225) at its new facility in Beloit, WI.

The company installed a custom-built IBA Rhodotron TT 300-HE (high energy) electron beam accelerator at the site that will be dedicated exclusively to the production of non-carrier added Ac-225, it said.

Initial production of radiochemical grade Ac-225 is planned for late 2023 or early 2024, according to the firm. The accelerator was supplied by Ion Beam Applications.
