AuntMinnie's IMV MarketStat #30: External-beam patients per external-beam treatment unit

August 24, 2004 --

The data reported by participants shows that the number of patients accommodated by each external-beam treatment unit (typically a linear accelerator) generally decreases when a site has two or more external-beam treatment units.

Based on responses to IMV’s 2003 Radiation Oncology Census Study

One factor influencing this may be that sites with more linear accelerator and cobalt-60 systems tend to manage more complex treatments, which may take more time to perform.
