Featuring Hologic's UltraFast imaging technology, the breast ultrasound system offers frame rates of up to 20,000 images per second, according to the firm. Hologic said that B-mode imaging enhancements have also yielded smoother images with reduced speckle, clearer images across all tissue densities, and improved lesion conspicuity.

SuperSonic Mach 40 comes with ShearWave Plus, the third generation of the company's shear-wave elastography technology. It also includes TriVu, an imaging mode that enables simultaneous analysis of morphology, stiffness, and blood flow on the same image, Hologic said.

With ultrasound-guided biopsies, Hologic's Needle PLanewave UltraSensitive (PL.U.S.) imaging technology can provide real-time visualization of the biopsy needle and anatomical structures, according to the vendor. It also predicts needle trajectory.
