October 29, 2015 -- San Francisco-based deep-learning start-up Enlitic has secured a $10 million investment led by Australian radiology services provider Capitol Health.

The partnership is part of an initiative by the firms to bring deep-learning capabilities powered by Enlitic's technologies to the Australian and Asian healthcare and radiology markets. The funds will be used to enhance existing learning tools and map the entire human body and its afflictions.

Deep learning is a concept that uses machine learning to analyze large sets of data; it has been applied in a number of fields, such as for automated real-time language translation. Enlitic has adapted the concept to medical data for uses such as avoiding unnecessary medical procedures.

Enlitic's medical deep-learning tools are commercially integrated end to end and are designed to power hundreds of radiologists' workflow across Capitol Health's large-scale care network.
