January 19, 2011 -- Final attendance numbers released this week for the 2010 RSNA meeting confirm that the conference saw an uptick in attendance compared to the previous year.

Official registration figures indicate that the 2010 meeting saw a total attendance of 58,044 individuals, up 2% compared to a final audited total of 56,824 people at RSNA 2009, the Oak Brook, IL, society reported. At RSNA 2008, there were 59,181 attendees.

Attendance in the RSNA's "professionals and others" category, which includes RSNA members, nonmember physicians, medical physicists, and other healthcare professionals, stood at 36,197 in the final audited figures. That's up 3% compared to an audited total of 35,110 professional and guest registrations in 2009.

The society also reported that radiologist attendance was 15,801 in 2010, the highest number in the meeting's history. Also setting a record was the number of international registrants, at 9,470. This represents almost 35% of total professional registrants.

The number of exhibitor personnel was about flat with 2009: There were 21,847 attendees registered as exhibitors at the 2010 meeting, compared with an audited total of 21,741 in 2009.
