March 27, 2018 -- Health IT firm Dicom Systems installed its Workflow Unifier software at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro in Moshi, Tanzania.

The project was funded by the nonprofit East Africa Medical Assistance Foundation (EAMAF), which chose the Kilimanjaro Christian Medical Centre (KCMC), a 630-bed referral hospital and medical school, as the recipient site.

The software will integrate with all KCMC specialties, eliminating the wait for paper-based reporting. It also eliminates the need for film and will interface with KCMC's electronic medical record.

The vendor hopes the installation will decrease maternal and infant mortality by increasing access to remote diagnostic services during the first trimester.
