Topex sells RT skin cancer business

Sensus Healthcare of Boca Raton, FL, announced that it is purchasing the radiation therapy (RT) skin cancer business of Topex of Danbury, CT.

Sensus Healthcare specializes in designing, manufacturing, and marketing products and services that incorporate mobile x-ray technology for noninvasive treatment of nonmelanoma skin cancers. The firm said it will take over sales of the low-energy SRT 100 superficial radiation therapy system.

SRT 100 offers an alternative to surgery for treating basal cell and squamous cell skin cancers, especially primary lesions requiring difficult or extensive surgery with sensitive structures in the head and neck regions, such as the fold in the nose, eyelids, lips, corner of the mouth, and the lining of the ear. The system received U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) 510(k) clearance in 2007.
