Healthcare information systems provider Cerner of Kansas City, MO, reported robust revenues, earnings, and bookings for its fiscal 2006 fourth quarter and year-end results (end-December 30).
Fourth-quarter 2006 revenues increased 17% to $380.8 million, compared with $325.8 million in the same quarter last year. For the period, 2005 net earnings were $39.1 million, a strong showing compared with net earnings of $27.4 million in the fourth quarter of 2005.
For the 2006 fiscal year, revenue totaled $1.38 billion, a 19% surge on fiscal 2005 revenue of $1.16 billion. The fiscal year saw net earnings of $109.9 million, a solid increase compared with net earnings of $86.3 million in 2005.
New business bookings in the fourth quarter stood at $543.2 million, a 41% increase compared with the $386.3 million posted for the same period in 2005, the company said. Fourth-quarter bookings include $154.2 million of bookings related to Cerner's contract with Fujitsu Services as part of the National Health Service (NHS) initiative to automate clinical processes and digitize medical records in the Southern Cluster of England.
Excluding bookings from that ongoing contract, Cerner's bookings were $389 million, a 21% upswing over the $320.8 million booked in the 2005 fourth quarter.
