FBP and AW-OSEM square off in 2D/3D cardiac PET

Filtered back projection (FBP) and attenuation-weighted ordered-subsets expectation maximization (AW-OSEM) protocols have demonstrated efficacy as image reconstruction algorithms for use in 3D whole-body PET oncology imaging. A recent study from the Netherlands assessed the quantitative accuracy of each protocol in both 3D acquisition and iterative reconstruction for cardiac FDG-PET.

Two studies tailor gynecologic imaging, intervention

Two groups of researchers have recently focused on improving gynecologic imaging as well as intervention. First, investigators from Turkey offer a case report on the multimodality diagnosis of endometrial stromal sarcoma in the myometrium. In the second paper, interventional radiologists discuss a potentially new way to perform nonsurgical fallopian tube occlusion.
