Perfusion CT finds subtle liver toxicity in chemotherapy patients

A new study from China found that perfusion CT can detect and quantitatively assess microvessel changes associated with liver toxicity in chemotherapy patients. The results could help noninvasively assess early liver damage in cancer patients while obviating the need for a separate scan.

Silicone oil may save vision of eye cancer patients

Eye cancer patients enter treatment knowing that their surgeon's strategy to kill the tumor with radiation may also sacrifice their eyesight. But California researchers have discovered that applying a layer of silicone oil while radiation therapy is being administered may shield healthy eye tissue and preserve vision.
