Multimodality vendor Philips Medical Systems of Andover, MA, is planning to enter the market for full-field digital mammography (FFDM) systems with MammoDiagnost MD, a flat-panel digital mammography system. Philips says the system will be a direct digital unit with a pixel size of 50 microns in screening mode and 25 microns in diagnostic mode.

Konica Minolta will introduce its work-in-progress phase contrast mammography (PCM) system, which is based on computed radiography. PCM uses what Konica calls a phase-shift technique to generate sharp contrasts at the edge of a region of interest.

Prodigy's technology detects bone changes in a variety of clinical applications, and provides advanced hip assessments and dual-energy vertebral assessments, according to the company.

Fujifilm Medical Systems USA will highlight its Fuji CR for Mammography (FCR-M) technology and a new workstation that can be used with FCR-M and full-field digital mammography (FFDM) systems, as well as other modalities. Unlike dedicated FFDM diagnostic workstations, the Synapse Multi-modality Breast Imaging Workstation Configuration can be used for any imaging exam, which contributes to improved productivity and workflow, according to Stamford, CT-based Fuji.

Fischer Imaging plans to present a new version of its full-field digital mammography (FFDM) unit, SenoScan, at this year's RSNA show. SenoScan2 will continue to incorporate slot-scanning technology, cesium iodide CCD detectors, and 25-micron resolution, but will boast workflow improvements such as smart technique automatic response (STAR), wheelchair access, automatic paddle recognition, and an expanded family of soft-copy review workstations, SenoView and SenoView Plus.
