Jury is still out on U.K. CAD utilization

Since 1998 more than 2,100 mammography computer-aided detection (CAD) systems have been sold in the U.S., but the technology has yet to be deployed by the National Health Service in the U.K. Past clinical studies have not made a persuasive case for its implementation. However, U.K. researchers of the Computer Aided Detection Evaluation Trial (CADET) believe that their findings merit further immediate evaluation of CAD technology.
