Raytheon BBN Technologies has licensed its stereo digital mammography (SDM) technology to Fujifilm Medical Systems USA for use in its Aspire HD full-field digital mammography system.
The combined technologies will deliver stereo images for use in 3D mammography viewing, according to Cambridge, MA-based Raytheon.
Fuji of Stamford, CT, is displaying the Raytheon clinical evaluation results at the RSNA meeting in Chicago this week.
In a 2007 clinical trial at Emory University's Breast Imaging Center in Atlanta, the SDM technology was found to be promising in the early detection of suspicious lesions and in reducing false-positive reading rates, when compared to 2D mammography.
Raytheon BBN Technologies is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Raytheon Company.
