Mendaera's Focalist handheld robotic needle guidance system is now commercially available with Butterfly Network's ultrasound-on-chip imaging technology.

Focalist combines handheld robotics, real-time imaging, and guidance software for image-guided needle procedures, including vascular access, regional nerve blocks, and organ access, the companies said. The system has U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) clearance for pediatric and adult patients and is used with select compatible FDA-cleared ultrasound probes.

The companies first announced their collaboration through Butterfly Embedded, Butterfly's program for licensing and co-developing its ultrasound-on-chip semiconductor technology. Mendaera is the first partner in the program to bring a product to market, the companies noted.
